ExtinctBook

udhar khata, minus the udhar of remembering

Your paper khata
belongs in a museum.

ExtinctBook tracks every customer's udhar, sends payment reminders on WhatsApp, and shows your day's profit in one tap. The register survived 200 years. It won't survive this.

bye bye, bahi-khata

a brief history of hisab

Five eras of bookkeeping. Four are fossils.

  1. 3000 BCE

    Stone tabletextinct

Heavy. Zero search. Customer disputes settled by whoever lifts it.

  2. 1800s

    Bahi-khataextinct

Red cloth, sacred on Diwali, unreadable by February.

  3. 1990s

    Plastic-cover registerextinct

One pen tied with string. Pages stuck together with cello tape.

  4. 2010s

    The Excel sheetextinct

Updated twice. Formula broke in March. Nobody dared touch it again.

  5. Now

    ExtinctBook

Every entry backed up, every udhar reminded, every evening a clean total.

what's written inside

Four things your register never did for you.

entry no. 1

Udhar tracking that sticks

Add an entry in 5 seconds: customer, amount, done. Every khata searchable, every balance live. No more 'likha tha kahin'.

entry no. 2

WhatsApp reminders that get replies

Polite, automatic payment reminders with a payment link, sent from your shop's name. You stay the nice guy. The app does the awkward part.

entry no. 3

Daily profit, one tap

Close the shutter, open the app: today's sales, today's udhar, today's collection. Hisab done before the chai gets cold.

entry no. 4

Works without internet

Counter pe network nahi hai? Doesn't matter. Entries save offline and sync when the bars come back. Built for real shops, not demo videos.

what it actually is

ExtinctBook is a digital ledger app for Indian shopkeepers that replaces the paper bahi-khata. It tracks customer credit (udhar) with live per-customer balances, sends automatic WhatsApp payment reminders with a direct payment link, and generates a daily summary of sales, udhar given, collections, and profit in one tap. The app is offline-first: entries save to the device without internet and sync to the cloud when connectivity returns, so no entry is lost during a network outage. The core feature set — unlimited customers, unlimited entries, and WhatsApp reminders — is free with no trial period and no customer cap. ExtinctBook is designed for kirana stores, garment shops, medical shops, hardware stores, and any small business in India that extends credit to regular customers. Available on Android via Google Play; iOS version in development with a waitlist open at extinctbook.com.

Questions shopkeepers actually ask.

What happens to my data if I lose or break my phone?

Your data is safe. Entries are backed up to the cloud automatically. Log into ExtinctBook on a new device and your full history restores in minutes. Losing your phone no longer means losing your hisab.

Does it work when there's no internet at the counter?

Yes. ExtinctBook is offline-first — entries save to your device even with no internet. The app syncs automatically when connectivity returns. Built for real shop counters, not perfect Wi-Fi.

Is ExtinctBook free or does it have a subscription fee?

The core khata is free: unlimited customers, unlimited entries, WhatsApp reminders with payment links. No credit card, no trial period, no customer cap. The free tier stays free.

Does it have a Hindi interface?

Haan ji. Full Hindi interface, and Hinglish-friendly search, so 'Sharma ji' and 'sharma' find the same khata.

When will it be available on iPhone?

The iOS app is in development. Join the waitlist with iOS selected and you'll get it the day it lands on the App Store.

What is the difference between ExtinctBook and Khatabook?

ExtinctBook does one thing — the khata. WhatsApp reminders include a direct payment link. Daily profit is one tap. Offline-first. No loan products, no notification noise, no super-app bloat. Core is free with no customer cap.
